Make a choice whether you want to work with a wide range of aspects (forms, textures, colors, things, people) or if you reduce to nuances of only few aspects

Some shots are working, because they have a carefully chosen aspect and quiet look on a main subject and a very reduced composition.

Some are attracting our attention because of a large variety of different scenes and a lot of busy corners where a lot of things are happening.

Both approaches are worth to be considered, even if they are working with contrary concepts. So it is up to you whether you want to reduce to the max and enjoy the peace of mind or if you are working on a choreography of chaos and challenge the audience to explore.

You can apply this to any subject you are working on. Whether you choose one or the other, it is important to make a conscious decision and go for it.

Your assignment

Choose your subject and try both approaches. It is up to you how to frame and stage it. Begin with the one which feels familiar and natural to you and then switch to the opposite approach.

Apply the scope+1 method and when you are happy with the result, go on, go further and then escalate completely.
